Making moon water
The magic of moon water
One of my favorite rituals to do on a full moon is making moon water. I just made some on the last full moon back in May after not making any for way too long. I was so pleased with making it again that I just felt super inspired to make a cute little blog post about it and share my special ritual with you xo.
Moon water is water that is charged by the enchanting and powerful light of the moon. Water has the ability to be set with intentions and holds energy. For this reason, moon water can assist with many things in life that require our intentions for us to create new circumstances and bring goals to life. Moon water is a wonderful tool to harness the energy from the moon and infuse your intentions into the water’s structure, and then it being enhanced and blessed in by the moon light.
How I make my moon water
The most imporant part of making moon water for me is that it all comes down to belief and intention.
These matters of the mind are what make the water magical.
Things to gather
- A glass jar, cup, or pretty glass container: A plastic container also works but I definitely use clear, see through glass every time I make my water, and something with a lid preferably. I usually use major jars! But I will confess, I have been wanting to splurge on new glassware just for my special moon water recipes.
- Drinking water: I love to use spring water in general in my everyday life, but most especially if making moon water - for spring water’s pure and natural properties of essential minerals and the natural purification process as opposed to filtered water. One of my favorite brands I’ve discovered so far is Mountain Valley spring water. If I do not have spring water than I would use filtered water but I would boil it first, just because I feel better about doing it that way. It’s just something in my mind.
- Other: Some like to infuse their moon water with things such as flowers, crystals, or herbs/spices that support their intentions. If you are wanting to drink your moon water make sure anything you infuse it with is safe for consumption. Such as making sure different crystals are not only water safe, but also safe to add to water that you are drinking. A few crystals that are known as safe to use for this purpose include clear quartz and rose quartz… I think.
Steps on the night of a full moon:
1. I start by washing my glass container with water and natural soap, or selecting a clean one from the cabinet.
2. Fill the container with the water (and any special infusions of choice perhaps.. but usually no)
3. The next thing I do is place my hands on the container and focus on my intentions for what I would like the water to do. It can literally be anything from health intentions, glowing skin, calling in more abundance, calling in more friendships, and so on. Literally anything! It’s so amazing. The main thing is to transfer the intentions in my mind into the energy of the water through my hands. I take extra care to focus on sending the desired outcome/energy out forth from my left hand, since it is connected to my heart and the heart is a sacred, electrical system that sends electrical impulses (energy/vibration) outwards into the world around us.
4. Place the jar in an area that is receiving direct moon light and leave it out all night. Some ideas for this can be on the windowsill, porch, or a place outside where the moon’s glow is sure to reach the water
5. Some people recommend bringing the water back inside before the sun rises to avoid the charge of the sun, but I typically don’t do that because I’m not up that early and I’m just straight up too tired most of the time tbh. So, in the morning when I wake up I go and get my water and put in the fridge and it looks so beautiful and feels so chilled by the cool air of the night
6. I let it get even colder for at least a few hours up to half a day before starting to enjoy it. But, if I’m like really thirsty when I wake up I’ll start taking some sips. If you are using a major jar, you can certainly let it sit for a while and it will last up to a few weeks. For me personally though, I’m obsessed and can’t wait to drink all mine within the first few days while it’s most fresh. I like mine ice cold and add lemon or cucumber slices.. or berries!
7. Enjoy x
My little side notes —
* People have all kinds of uses for moon water. I just usually drink it up but it can also be used for watering plants, cleaning things, pouring it into a bath, washing your face with it, making toners, and so many more things!
* The moon water literally tastes so delicious to me! The best way I can desribe it is that it feels just really light, clean, and airy… like I’m drinking a magical little cloud. It tastes so fresh. Moon water is the best water I’ve ever had. It also just makes my entire body feel so good and pure after drinking it. I feel elevated and uplifted physically and mentally.
* If it is your first time making moon water and you have any questions at all, please feel free to message me on IG or email me and we can chat. Or I’d just love to hear about your experience with making moon water and if it had any positive effects for you.
